Connect a device

1. Connect the device to the same band-owned router or hotspot as the DAW host.
2. Start the Prest host integration.
3. Open a browser on the device.
4. Enter the exact local address reported by the host. Try prest.local only when mDNS discovery is available on that network.
5. Confirm the runtime-connected state before using transport.

Expected result: the device shows the same host-backed catalog and transport state.

Tested browser shapes

The product’s current Playwright configuration exercises desktop Chromium, iPad Safari, and iPhone Safari layouts. That is test evidence, not a complete public compatibility matrix. Firefox, Edge, minimum browser versions, and platform-specific installability are not yet published.

Browser installation and offline use

Prest includes a web manifest but no service worker. Do not rely on PWA installation or a fully offline browser. The browser must be able to reach the active host runtime on the local network.

Reconnect expectations

The server provides a fresh session identity after restart and clients can resynchronize after reconnect. Exact failover timing and production reconnect guarantees are not published; rehearse router and host restarts with the final supported package.
