Ten-minute first show
This quick start assumes a verified Prest package is already installed and a representative DAW project is available. It does not replace the integration-specific preparation guide.
1. Isolate the stage network
Section titled “1. Isolate the stage network”- Start the band-owned router or personal hotspot.
- Connect only the DAW host and approved control devices.
- Confirm the network is not public, guest, or shared venue Wi-Fi.
Expected result: the host and browser device can reach each other on a network you control.
2. Start the host integration
Section titled “2. Start the host integration”- Open REAPER with the Prest plugin installed, or open Ableton Live with the Prest Control Surface selected.
- Wait for the integration to report that its local runtime is ready.
- Note the reported address. Use
prest.localonly when local-name discovery is working.
Expected result: the host reports a local Prest address.
3. Open Prest
Section titled “3. Open Prest”- Open a tested browser on the host or another approved device.
- Enter the reported address.
- Confirm the application reports a connected runtime.
If it does not connect, stop here and use Connection troubleshooting.
4. Set the project source
Section titled “4. Set the project source”- Open Setup.
- In Data, set the backing-tracks project source appropriate to the host workflow.
- Wait for the source status to become ready.
Expected result: Prest can discover or receive the prepared song catalog.
5. Build a setlist
Section titled “5. Build a setlist”- Open Editor.
- Create or choose a setlist.
- Add at least two discovered or created songs.
- Put them in performance order.
Expected result: the active setlist shows the chosen songs and total timing where available.
6. Enter Performance
Section titled “6. Enter Performance”- Open Performance.
- Choose the setlist and first song.
- Press Play, then Pause, then Stop during rehearsal-safe material.
- Verify that the DAW transport follows each action.
- If the project contains timed text, confirm lyrics and chords follow the playhead.
Expected result: the browser controls the host transport and displays synchronized performance state.
7. Back up the catalog
Section titled “7. Back up the catalog”- Return to Setup.
- In Data, choose Download Backup.
- Store the
.rpbakfile outside the browser’s downloads cleanup path.
